The planned development of RDP houses by the City of Johannesburg in Crosby is meant to provide all, especially the underprivileged residents of Slovo Park informal settlement, with decent housing after living within the informal settlement for 17 years without any progress. Although the proposal lies at the heart of empowerment it has led to objections by the residents of Crosby to the whole idea.
